what we do

We work with individuals, communities, voluntary groups, schools, educators, local authorities, public sector bodies, businesses, civil servants and politicians.

The Welsh Government’s Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act (May 2015) is legislation to create a unique statutory duty on public services in Wales to deliver sustainable outcomes. As such, Sustainable Wales is perfectly placed to help Wales take this progressive legislation forward at a grass-roots level.

We hope to inspire, bring confidence and commitment, share ideas and encourage people to get involved.

A bold new global agenda to end poverty by 2030 and pursue a sustainable future was unanimously adopted in September 2015 by the 193 Member States of the United Nations. The Sustainable Development Goals offer us the opportunity to end poverty, promote prosperity and well-being for all, protect the environment and address climate change.

Civil society groups in Wales were involved in the development of the goals. Now it will be up to us all, from all around the world to help achieve them.

We align our activities with the new United Nations Sustainable Development Goals...

'Transforming Our World' - the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The United Nations 2000 Millennium Development Goals have been superseded by 17 Sustainable Development Goals - 'Transforming Our World - the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In the autumn of 2015, countries adopted a new sustainable development agenda and a global agreement on climate change in the ambitious aim to end poverty, hunger and assure gender equality while building a life of dignity for all over the next 15 years.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are our shared vision of humanity and a social contract between the world’s leaders and the people,” UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon had said of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted unanimously by 193 Heads of State and other top leaders at a summit in September 2015.

They are a to-do list for people and planet, and a blueprint for success,” he had said of the 17 goals and 169 targets to wipe out poverty, fight inequality and tackle climate change over the next 15 years.
